Summary

In this amazing talk, Shaykh Dr. Yasir Qadhi continues on the biography of Umar Ibn Khattab RA and shares some Quranic verses and hadith pertaining to him. He was one of the leading proponents of Islamic moral values in the wake of persecution by the non believers. Similar to Abu Bakr Siddique RA, Umar Ibn Khattab RA were gifted with the immense privilege of having participated in all of the Prophet’s ﷺ battles. This was granted due to the intelligence and foresight of Umar RA. "Among the nations before you there used to be people who were Muhadathoon (Divinely inspired, though they were not prophets). And if there is any of such a person among my followers, it is 'Umar." [Sahih al-Bukhari]  Abdullah Ibn Masud described the importance of Umar’s RA conversion to Islam by saying:"Umar’s becoming a Muslim was a conquest."(Ali ibn al-Athir, Usud al-Ghabah, IV, p. 151)  "O Muslims! This is Umar Ibn Hattab. He is a great Migrant and Helper of migrants. I have taken him as my assistant and counselor. He is so worthy that he admits and speaks the truth even if it is painful. He never seeks to avoid criticism in matters involving Allah’s command and prohibitions. Satan flees from him. Stone and iron melt in the face of his majesty. He is a person praised by the dwellers in Paradise.  Abu Bakr is the pillar of the religion. Umar is the lock on corruption. There can be no corruption so long as Umar is alive.  When satan sees Umar Ibn Khattab he will fall on his face from his majesty!”  “O Allah, strengthen Islam with one of two men whom you love more: Amr ibn Hisham [Abu Jahl] or Umar ibn Al-Khattab.”  Narrated Aslam: Ibn Umar asked me about some matters concerning Umar. He said, “Since Allah’s Apostle died, I have never seen anybody more serious, hard working and generous than Umar bin Al−Khattab (till the end of his life).” [Sahih Al-Bukhari – Book 57 Hadith 36].
