Summary

In this new series about the lives of the sahaba, Shaykh Dr. Yasir Qadhi takes us on a journey to get acquainted with family, lineage and tribe of the most prominent Sahaba to have ever walked the face of this earth - Abu Bakr As-Siddique [RA]. The talk commences with brief details on a biography of this great Sahaba .We are also made aware of his actual name and how it came into being.a mention is also made of his parents, his physical attributes and chief characteristics of this eminent personality. The traits that defined him included chastity, dignity, decency ,abstinence from intoxicants and gentleness and many more. There is a striking resemblance in the usage of superlatives by Aishah RA to address the Prophet ﷺ and Abu Bakr RA which leads us to believe that the two were quite similar in their traits and behaviour. As we move further in the enlightening video, Shaykh Yasir delves into the numerous nicknames that adorned this great man’s personality such as Al Atiq,As-Siddiq, Al Atqa and many more. These Lakhabs are authenticated with support from various Hadith recited by the Shaykh. We are then introduced to the family of Abu Bakr RA - his marriages, his sons and daughters from these marriages. Also, the most beautiful achievement of this prestigious and beloved family is its conversion to Islam in entirety which was unlike any other Sahabi. This is commendable given the difficulty and lack of trust in these affairs by the ancestors.
