I'm your host, David Comerford, and I'm joined by Matt Addison for this episode and what we're going to talk about today is

0:28.2

No, Trent Alexander Reynolds' new role within the Liverpool team is affecting the players around him and we've spoken a lot about

0:37.3

Trent individually and how its performances have improved in his new role for Liverpool but today we want to look at how it's changed the dynamics

0:46.0

within the Liverpool team itself and what it means for certain Liverpool players going forward.

0:51.9

So we've got three players in mind that we want to discuss and the first of those is Andy Robertson and I'm going to throw some stats at you Matt about how Robertson's role has changed in the time since Trent moved into midfield.

1:10.0

Certainly in Liverpool's build up play So his touches in the attacking third, his average for the season is 25.1 per game. The last three games has been 17, 20 and then 51 against forests, a bit of an outlier, essentially there.

1:26.4

Middle third, 32.4 suchches per game over the season. It was 24 against Arsenal but flies up to 56 and 63 in the last couple of games.

1:38.5

Defence of third, 24.2 for the season, which he's about on that against Arsenal, but then he goes to 40 against Leeds and 16 against Forrest. So it looks like less touches in the attacking third and potentially more in deeper areas and then here's an intriguing one as well

2:03.2

created that aren't coming from set pieces and that's basically halved since he

2:07.5

moved into this new role. So do you think that Roberton is going to have less a fucking license now within this system?

2:15.7

Yeah, it's interesting isn't it. I think there's loads of players that you'd say are kind of winners within this system of players that you'd look at and think are potentially

2:25.2

completely transformed for certain games but Robertson is an interesting one you've picked

2:29.8

out some stats there and I think you know but we have to caveat it with it's it's such a small

2:35.4

sample size it's such a different in quality of opponent as well I think each of

2:40.9

the three games that we've seen this new look

2:43.1

Liverpool in have been very different obviously arsenal was a big test and that gives me

2:47.8

a lot of the positivity in terms of what it could look like against some of the
