Merseyside Derby

where he was arguably Liverpool's best player we're gonna have a look at Virgil Van Dyke today.

We've looked at him a couple of times on this podcast in the past few months.

We looked at him in the summer as part of our deep dives into

Liverpool centre backs and earlier in the season when we talked about his contract situation.

But our focus today is a little bit different. We're going to look at whether he's still the

best centre back in the

world too. So Matt I think I've started a few of these podcasts with numerical type questions

but for this one if we're saying Virgil Van Dyke

2019 when obviously came close to win the ball and thought if that player was a 10

out of 10 what number would you put him at now and what would the number have

been last season?

Yeah I mean it's always tricky isn't he? I think he was by a distance the best defender

in the world so I can see why you give 10 out of 10 but then you know how do you sort of work backwards from

that it's a little bit tricky I think I'd go broadly probably an eight now

possibly I think there's there's a chance that he'll get back to a nine again.

Is he gonna get back to what he was?

Four years ago, probably not, but you know, I still think he is one of the best out there.
