from just outside the Grand Bohemian Hotel here in Birmingham, Alabama, the site

of SEC basketball and media days. My second time out here, it was awesome. the first time it's been awesome again

such a cool deal where you have representatives coaches and players from all

14 teams here convened in one location to preview the 2023-24 basketball

season exciting times. It's kind of like football media days where you know when that

rolls around it's like okay we're getting closer to

transitioning from talking season into the actual action on the grid iron same thing here a

lot of talking a lot of riding a lot of projections but we're getting closer and

closer and closer to some actual

basketball you know me you know I'm excited about this so some really good stuff

today hey Arkansas is picked to finish third in the SEC by the media and the preseason poll behind a Tennessee

and Texas A&N teams that return quite frankly their entire roster so I

think that's fair you know it's interesting that this preseason stuff

It's about respect right? It's about respect. I mean it's fun to talk about but it doesn't really mean anything and in the grand scheme of things. I thought you know

Lamont Paris the South Carolina head coach made a really really great point when

he was asked about South Carolina being picked to finish dead last in the conference

this season.

And he said, hey, look, go back and look at last year's projections and guess what?

None of the teams wound up finishing where they were projected to.

That's a really good point.

So everybody wound up getting it wrong.
