In chapter 53, Lydia and Wickham head off, seemingly unchanged by everything that has happened,

Mrs. Bennet is crushed that they've left, but her spirits are a bit buoyed by the fact

that news has arrived, Bingley is coming back to town.

We hear in this scene almost the exact same conversation between Mr. and Mrs. Bennet

that we got at the beginning of the novel, about whether or not Mr. Bennet is willing

to go and visit Bingley upon his arrival.

The fight doesn't need to be resolved, though, because before there's even a chance

for a visit, Bingley shows up at the Longmorendore, and he's not alone.

He's got Darcy with him.

When they get inside, Darcy is awkward and silent.

Mrs. Bennet is embarrassing, and Mr. Bingley is sweet and stealing glances at Jane.

us to where we were at the very beginning of the novel,

and we start to feel like, oh my god, this is stuck.
