So Supreme Court update amazing things are happening right now the Supreme Court because Texas can be awful sometimes abortions on the table.

So I wanted to read this quick thing from Slate that the great Dahlia Lithwick wrote and it's kind of I know a lot of you have read it because everybody has tweeted it and emailed it to us.

So it's pretty great when the Supreme Court last heard oral arguments in a landmark abortion case was April 1992 the case was plant parenthood V. Casey and Sandra Day O'Connor was the lone female justice.

24 years later there are three women on the court and if you count Justice Stephen Breyer as one of history's great feminists and I do, then you can view the arguments in the terms landmark abortion case whole women's health versus heller said as creating a neat four four split.

On one side you have a group of test email justices needling a female lawyer for Texas clinics about whether it was even appropriate for them to hear this appeal on the other you've got four absolutely smoking hot feminists.

Pounding on Texas's solicitor general for passing abortion regulations that have no plausible health purpose and also seem pretty stupid.

It felt as if for the first time in history the gender playing field at the high court was finally leveled and as a consequence the courts female justices were emboldened to just ignore the rules time limits were flouted to such a degree that chief justice John Roberts pretty much just gave up enforcing them.

Counted two instances in which Roberts try to get advocates to wrap up as justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg or we do.

And Sonia Sotomayor simply blew passing with more questions there was something wonderful and symbolic about Roberts losing almost complete control over the courts indignant women who are just not inclined to play nice anymore.

But it was so satisfying so you know this is a case about whether Texas is allowed to essentially restrict abortion so much that it becomes illegal not just like try to make it illegal outright like it's sneaky and rude and there's something so great about these women being like no this is sneaky and rude like this is we see what you're doing.
