Greetings Par Paris, servants, and retrogrades, happy Tuesday.

It is July 9th.

And today, in Rome, which is ahead of us in the U.S., A new synod document dropped, and there was an important presser, press conference,

where Synod VIP Cardinal Gresh delivered offhandedly some very, very big news.

We're going to talk about the new synod doc for the October 24 Synod.

I've made big predictions about it.

And we're going to talk about Cardinal Gresh's offhanded huge news in today's show. First, I just want to talk a little bit about the nature of what a synod is and how this ongoing synod, which has been extended a couple different times, is the perfect

expression of Pope Francis's incrementalism.

Not only, so a synod's like a mini-gathering, it's not by itself per force, magisterial,

it is, it's an old term in the Christian church, a Vatican II reinvigorated light motif that has

been used in the post-concilier era to unravel new ideas.

Pope Francis, starting with the first synod under his pontificate the very next

year after he took office, 2014, has been used to unravel incrementally revolutionary ideas.

And that's what's been going on at the Senate on Synodality for a few

different ideas, but the main one has been women deacons. Sometimes it's insinuated, they'll be

ordained. Most of the time it's insinuated, they will be non-ordained, non-sacramental women

deacons. And I've been calling this, having bets on it,

wagers, making public prognostications, checking news semi-daily, at least weekly,

since 2019, since the middle synod often forgot about in the Francis Pontificate, the Amazon

synod, Steve Scojek, when he was still Catholic, Eric Sammons of

Crisis, and I had some sort of three-man wager on whether or not they would make non-sacramental

female deacons then. It'll always be called non-sacramental, the institution of female deacons.
