Many people give up on learning after they leave school because, well, let's face it,

after 13 or 20 years of extrinsically motivated education, which means other people telling

them what to do and what to learn and how to think, it's still a source of unpleasant

memories.

People become tired of their attention being manipulated from outside by textbooks and

teachers.

So for years, they have long for the day of graduation, as if graduation symbolizes their

first day of freedom, but the person who stops learning becomes the one who is most enslaved.

Now they're thinking is directed by the opinions of their neighbors, by the editors of the

paper, commentators on TV, and the manipulations by commercial gimmickry.

They will be at the mercy of the so-called experts.

They will become the puppet on the string of every puppet master around them.

Ideally, the day one graduates from institutional education is the day the real education should

start.

One motivated by intrinsic motivation, not just extrinsic, meaning the learning and growth

you seek, is to gain you real life outcomes.

The ones you desire, ones that you can measure with your wallet, with your heart, or your

weight scale.
