Summary

In the first readings of Ovid, Liv reads the letters of Hypsipyle and Medea. Hypsipyle writes to Jason after hearing he's not coming back to Lemnos, she's heard of his new wife Medea and wants to tell him about the twins she gave birth to. Medea writes to Jason to remind him everything she did for him before he gave her up for a Greek princess.

This is not a standard narrative story episode, it's simply a bonus reading of an epic. For regular episodes look for any that don't have "Liv Reads..." in the title!

1:08.0	So periodically, I will be reading you some of Ovid's Heroides,
1:13.0	because they're super interesting.
1:15.0	Except the Sappho one, fuck that one.
1:17.0	It has the real life woman killing herself for a fucking man?
1:21.0	A man. What the fuck is that?
1:23.0	Anyway, aside from the Sappho Heroides, the works are fascinating.
1:28.0	They're by Ovid firstly, so obviously I love them,
1:31.0	but also they're these letters by women to men who have fucked them over.
1:36.0	In some cases, the men write them too, but for the most part, they're by women.
1:40.0	It's fascinating.
1:43.0	So I'm starting today with the only two I've ever really mentioned in episodes of this podcast.
1:49.0	It felt like the right place to start.
