as you undoubtedly know, Queen Elizabeth II, one of the most iconic figures of both the 20th and

21st centuries died yesterday. She was 96 years old. And isn't it amazing that she got to have her platinum Jubilee and she got to see with

her own eyes how beloved she was by her people? You know, she's such an extraordinary life. I mean,

she lived through so much. And there are plenty of people in the UK that aren't really into the monarchy and loads of people in this country.

I mean, one of the things I saw a lot last night was, didn't we fight a war so we didn't have to care about the queen, you know, that kind of thing.

Setting aside all of the government and politics stuff.

I mean, what an extraordinary life this woman lived. And you knew yesterday.

We worked late yesterday. We were working on a podcast. And I had the TV on mute it the whole time.

And we knew. Like, you knew that this was so, the news coverage was so different from anything

you'd ever seen. You knew that bad news

was coming. And it's just so sad because she's a beloved figure in the UK, but she's also a mother

and a grandmother and seemingly devoted to her family. And it's just, it's always sad when someone passes max um max says a couple of things

for us bob so queen elizabeth was never supposed to be king queen you have to understand that

she was not in the line of succession if her uncle edward had not abdicated to marry the American divorcee Wallace Simpson,

pushing Queen Elizabeth's father into the throne, she would never have been queen.

And she said something when she was young after she was crowned.

She said, I'm going to do my best with what destiny has given me to serve you,

the people. And then she lived up to that for every year she was on the throne. So here's a

little bit from that coronation of the very young Queen Elizabeth in 1947. I declare before you

all with my whole life, whether it be long or short, shall be devoted to your

service and to the service of our great imperial family to which we all belong.
