I'm Gretchen Rubin and this is a little happier.

As I've mentioned, my daughter recently graduated from high school, which was a very big deal,

and something really interesting happened at the party after the graduation.

So all the parents and grandparents are there, all the children are milling around and

they're robes and they're mortar boards and everybody's talking to each other very excitedly.

And my daughter came over and said, oh, I just saw my ex-boyfriend's mother.

Now my daughter had two ex-boyfriends in high school.

This was the first ex-boyfriend.

It was a very intense relationship.

It was first love.

And my daughter spent a lot of time with him and with his family and they had a very lovely

relationship.

And the thing is, sometimes it's hard to put into words the exact nature of a relationship.

I mean, what exactly is my daughter's relationship to the mother of her ex-high school boyfriend

that she doesn't even really talk to anymore?

But she told me what this mother said and I thought it was just the right thing to say.

She told Eliza, you'll always have a place in my heart.

And that's all we need to hear.
