Hello and welcome back to Cult Leader. I'm your Cult Leader Spencer Henry and this right here, this is a little leader where I read the stories that you send to me. If you have a story you're just itching to share with the cult, well, what are you waiting for?

0:50.0

Send it on over to Spencer at Cult Leader.com. How's it going, babes? Happy Friday? What a week? What a month? What a life? We got a lot done this week actually. How's about that little rattlesnake James story, huh? Bizarre. See, this is why I tend to go into the newspaper archives for my stories because there's so many stories that are happening now, of course, that just get mass coverage. But there are so many stories hiding in the past, especially from like the 20s, 30s, 40s of these.

Outrageous crimes that I'm like, we need to talk about this. How is nobody talking about this? Speaking of, I found this one really wild story about this woman named Winnie Judd and Patreon babes, if you haven't logged in in a while. I didn't episode on the case specifically for Patreon. So go listen, if you haven't listened yet, I know, I know. Finally, he's finally uploaded something. I'm working on some other stuff for Patreon, but probably going to be pretty quiet until after the live.

I would say in August, we can expect to see some more stuff in there, especially as we get closer to the holidays. I did also decide to donate the Patreon income to the Trevor project this month. So thank you for allowing me to be able to do that on behalf of the cult. And I also put a little post in Patreon that if you have charities that you personally back to please comment them on there so that I can donate to you.

2:18.0

I can donate a portion or the bulk of the Patreon income to those charities every month. I would like to do that. Pretty fucked up by next week's episode. We kind of go into three different stories on Tuesday's episode. It's not a list episode.

2:33.0

There's one main story, kind of sandwiched between these two other ones, but all of them just made a very big impression on me. So that will be coming out on Tuesday, unless you're subscribed to Wundery Plus, then I believe you can access the episode now.

What else? Oh, I'm still heavy into my Sabrina's binge watching. Just finished season one, and I was laughing because every time I go to therapy,

3:00.0

I get we start with like a grounding session where we do breath work and that kind of stuff. And this week my therapist was like, how was that? Where was your mind? And I'm like, to be honest, I just started binge watching the sopranos.

3:14.0

So I was thinking of Tony soprano sitting with his therapist, which if you've seen the show, you know, the therapist is a big part of it. And my therapist was like, oh my god, Spencer, I just binge watched the first episode this week. How weird is that? Can you believe it?

3:29.0

I just finished the first season. So I'm starting season two this weekend. And that is my only plans for the weekend. But I just loved that my therapist was like, oh, hey, me too. I feel like we would be friends in real life, but I don't know. They know too much at this point. I don't know.

3:44.0

I don't know about all that. But I think that's all I got. If it's all right with you guys, I'd like to just hop straight into some emails. We got quite a few this week. And this first one says faith healing connection. They wrote high Spencer for this story.

3:57.0

I think it's going to be addressed as Kate, if that's all right. Sure. I will call you guys whatever you want. I've debated well within reason. I've debated on sharing this story for a while. But now with the recent faith healing episodes, I finally have a connection.

4:10.0

During the weekend before finals week for my college, there was a student that took his own life. Oh, god, that's horrible. By the way, in at least in the US, babes, I think I read.

4:23.0

I know my little sister posted about it today. The new suicide prevention hotline is 988. So as of July 16, 2022, dialing or texting 988 will connect you to the national suicide prevention hotline for immediate support.

4:42.0

That's actually amazing that they now have that three digit number. I think that will make things much more accessible in times of crisis for a lot of people. Sorry, back to this email. I woke up around 5 a.m. and checked the campus's social media and everyone was talking about it. I then woke my roommate up sleeping on her side of the room. It's safe to say that we were both pretty shook up.

5:03.0

In the next few days, there was a lot of speculation about what had happened and eventually me and my roommates found out that he had done it for, quote unquote, religious reasons. Those who were in the room when he jumped out of his window said that, oh, fuck, said that he had been talking about the rapture coming in that the world was going to end. If that sounds crazy, hold onto your seat. It gets crazier.

5:23.0

My roommates boss went to this guy's funeral and said that his family had tried to resurrect him. Oh, God, that's sad. They also brought a horn that they claimed was from some biblical place. I'm not religious. Then they had people chant for him to return. Sorry for the length and give hotdog lots of love. Kate, that is really sad.

5:45.0

I think that's part of the dangers of growing up in these religions that have such a heavy emphasis on Doomsday and the world coming to an end because the psychological stress and aftermath of that on a child is just, it can lead to awful things like this. Very sad.

6:03.0

This next one says Lady Murdered while walking her pet bird. So I think we're going on a different beat with this one. High Spencer, hotdog, and Madison too. Hey, Madison, well, she's not here right now. I'm actually going to see her in about two hours. What does this say? I know Coli there's a different show, but the obituary throwback slash best of what a gem. Oh, yeah, for our one year for obituary, we did a whole look back at our first year of episodes. And that was so much fun.

6:30.0

Obligatory apologies for the long email, except this story just has so much to say. So my husband and I rented an old Victorian house in St. Augustine, Florida, which was formerly known as the oldest city in the US. It is now more appropriately referred to as the oldest continuously occupied European settlement in the US. When we arrived at our rental house on marine street, I noticed that we were right next door to the St. Augustine National Library, sent the library to the cemetery.

6:59.0

St. Augustine National Cemetery, as I'm taking the in the cemetery history, the seven year Seminole War and you Jackson in the trail of tears, I'm thinking this place has pretty heavy energy. A moment later, my Instacart order arrives and the delivery dude says, so what's it like live in next to the murder house? I'm sorry, what?
