Following these breadcrumbs being left by our central bankers, I'm David Brancacia.

We've heard from about half a dozen federal reserve officials this week, and there are

a couple more speaking today.

After that, the Fed enters what's called a quiet period with officials keeping a low

public profile ahead of its meeting on interest rates in a couple of weeks.

These central bankers have been leaving us little hints, Christopher Lowe, chief economist

at FHN Financial.

Where do these clues lead?

Do you think?

Well, you know, the FOMC is split into two camps for the most part.

There's one group that says they probably will not raise rates in a couple of weeks, but

they might raise rates in November, depending on the data.

And then there's another group that says they probably won't raise rates in two weeks,

but they might not have to raise rates in November, depending on the data.

That seems like almost like the same conclusion from the two groups.

You know, we drew the same conclusion, as Jay Powell so eloquently said, what they do

from here on depends on the totality of the data.
