0:03.4	The other day I was talking to some friends
0:05.5	about something that had happened to the son of another friend of ours.
0:09.2	Her son was a good tennis player and they'd hope that his tennis ability would help him during the college application process.
0:15.7	Then in the summer between junior and senior years of high school,
0:18.9	during a casual basketball game with his friends, he injured his leg.
0:23.4	That injury meant that he couldn't play tennis for a long time
0:26.1	and that affected the college process.
0:28.8	I would have been so angry when friends said,
0:31.0	it's so irresponsible to take a risk at such a crucial time.
0:35.3	Another son has a son about the same age
0:37.2	who is a very serious ballet student who wants to join a professional company next year.

0:42.8	My son wanted to go skiing with a friend and I said,
0:45.3	honey, this is your audition year.
0:47.4	It isn't the year for you to try skiing for the first time.
0:51.4	But another friend disagreed.
0:53.6	Really, she said, can't a kid play a game of basketball without worrying about his future?
0:58.3	After all, Michael Jordan had his love of the game clause.
1:02.1	I was intrigued.
1:03.3	I'd never heard about this love of the game clause.
1:06.8	What is that, I asked?
