We are sitting in my living room recording, which is a little different from the studio, but I'm really loving it.

It's very comfy.

Our legs are touching.

Oh my gosh.

We're both on the couch.

And actually appropriately, today our theme is the mundane, the quotidian, the everyday,

the ordinary things in literature and how writers from George Elliott to Elizabeth Strout have

made them extraordinary.

As usual, our theme is inspired by our guest.

And this month we'll be playing a recording of an interview Carrie did without me

with the Norwegian author Carl Ovid Narskardt a couple of weeks ago at Waterstones, Tottenham Court Road.

You were in Ireland.

Nowscard is best known for his epic My Struggle series, but he was in town to talk about his new book, Autumn,

which is the first in a quartet of titles based around the seasons. In autumn, he describes his
