Summary

Listening is not a passive action! Listening is actually an intentional action. You might not recognize the difference between when you're listening from your EGO vs your HEART.

In this podcast, we're going to break down the difference- how it sounds, how it feels to you, and how it feels to your partner.

None of us were really taught how to LISTEN, which can leave your partner not feeling truly understood. Sure, you might have HEARD them, but did you TRULY listen. You'll find out how to know.

This episode is critical for all couples to listen to and will help you connect at deeper, more profound levels than you've ever imagined.

So you can communicate like pros, fight smarter, and be on the same team no matter the challenge

0:10.7

you face. I am one of your hosts, Aaron Freeman. And I'm Jocelyn Freeman, but you all just remember

0:15.1

us as the Freemans. Yes, and today's topic is all about listening to your partner from ego versus your heart.

0:22.9

And Jocelyn, where does this deep topic come from?

0:25.4

Well, yeah, I'm excited to go into the ego versus the heart.

0:28.3

It actually comes from first and foremost things that we've been noticing in our coaching sessions lately,

0:33.0

our private coaching sessions where we're working with a couple on communicating.

0:37.4

And it's interesting as

0:38.4

people learn that they thought they were listening, truly listening, and we show them that they

0:45.1

weren't and they were really listening more from their ego, right? And listening defensively,

0:50.1

et cetera. We're going to get into that. So it started there and then we took that idea of learning

0:55.7

to be a better listener and we put up a poll on social media, both Facebook and Instagram. And I said,

1:01.9

hey, do you guys feel like you could be better listeners? And everyone was like, yes, I could always

1:06.9

work on that. Absolutely. Tell me more. How do I be a better listener? So it sounded like it was

1:11.6

something that I think we all can identify with that, all right, we might say, all right, I improved.

1:17.6

I'm a bit of a better listener than I was last year. But I don't think there's ever this place

1:22.8

where we can stop being a better listener. Yeah, that's really true. So today we're going to go into

1:27.3

this topic, and this is one of the opportunities for me. I feel in this new setup where it's just you and I here rapping, this is where we can take a topic much deeper than we would have before. And so what we're going to cover today is, how do you know when you're listening from ego versus your heart? What is the impact when you are listening from ego? And then what is the impact when you are listening from

1:45.0

ego and then what are some steps so you can listen to your partner from the heart and then what

1:50.3

would be the benefit of that so that's what we're going to cover and right before we jump in

1:53.8

I want to read another review of the podcast if that's okay with you oh I love hearing the reviews
