I've been climbing for about 15 minutes away from a single-track road.

Upper a footpath that has bracken on either sides,

it's slightly overgrown, it's enclosed, but up ahead of me is a view about to emerge of a glen.

And the lane feels as if I could be in Cornwall, but the glen ahead feels as if I could be

in the Highlands of Scotland.

And the reason for the variety is that I'm in neither of those places.

But I'm smack in the middle of the Irish Sea between Ireland and Scotland on the Isle of Man,

a place I've always wanted to come.

I'm about to go through a gate that has written on it in in a wood engraving Glendoo. And up ahead of me I can see two men, one of them in a bright green jacket and form-coloured trousers and a form-coloured pork pie hat.
