So this week what we decided to do was take a couple of those voicemails from some interesting collars and give them a call and get to know some of y'all stories.

Our guests today are Emily from Houston. She is a musician and she is going to talk to us about her culty childhood with her narcissist dad.

She's very interested in the theme of Cult of One, so we're going to discuss that.

And then also Holly and West Virginia, she grew up fundamentalist. She's a bus kid. A bus kid Baptist.

She's a fun phrase. It really is and she talks a lot about purity culture and all of the interesting things that can happen to one in such a world.

As well as dating a pair of brothers in a very small town. Yeah. And why went wrong with that? You know, stuff happens.

So before we get into that and by the way, y'all should all call us because this is fun. It's fun to call our listeners and like get to hear some of their own experiences.

It was really emotional. Yeah. I love it. Before we talk to Emily and Holly, Emily and Holly.

Megan, would you like to tell me the culty thing that happened this week? Yeah. I mean, basically I think instead I'd rather tell you a story.

Okay. Tell me a story. All right. So this was reminiscent of something that Holly talks about later, which was just got me thinking about how weird it is that like dating culture and Christianity is fucking bizarre.

You are, I'll speak from how I grew up. You are supposed to marry somebody in your religion and 18 is a perfectly acceptable time to be married by.

I know a girl who walked across her high school graduation with a new last name because she'd already gotten married. Oh my gosh.

Of course divorce two years later and everyone was like, you're a center and I was like, what the, she was in high school. Yeah.

What are we talking about? Yeah. Okay. So this is the culture and the world that you're just,

we're walks big in Mormonism. We're always supposed to go and walks with guys. No walk. Yeah. Okay. I mean, maybe no one was asking me on walks.
