Maybe the party it's the vibe in here is like a party bus right now but it might change we might change it up but

thank you thanks so much for the invitation I feel very honored to be the

inaugural guest in your new lab yeah Yeah, thank you.

I think it's fitting and I think it's fitting and I think it's fitting and I think it's fitting specifically because of a

experience I had when I first interviewed here and I've been thinking about this over the past couple of days especially in preparation for our conversation and it was my interview in like November whatever year I was like 2018 when I was on the job

market and I was getting interviews in Canada mostly so I came and it was kind of cold but it wasn't that cold

compared to where I was flying from in Albuquerque and so I was ready for the

interview first day but there's two days interviews, and the first day is just like meeting after meeting,

interview and then job talk and dinner. And I actually thought it was incredibly alienating.

And whether it was the questions during the

Q&A of my job talk or the dinner,

I went home or home. I went to the St George Hotel afterwards and I cried and I was like

they're not giving me this job and then the second day I went to the First Nations house

and got to meet you for the first time I think and got to like hang out in the First Nations House, meet students, native students, and had a blast.

And I remember kind of like thinking to myself that,

oh, I'm not getting this job interview.

I'm not gonna get the job, but you were like, like no like it'll be so great if you come like you know we'd love to have you like there's so much you can do blah blah blah but I think it's like really cool to have you come into this space and like to talk about your work and to like use this space to like highlight the work that you've been up to and not just here you've T also an o-cad and globally too.

So I just wanted to put that on the table to start.
