a lot of people are going to church and we're going through the motions, we're doing all

the religious things, but we're just not fully who we say that we are. I'm hoping to help

change that.

A long time friend has stopped by Joe today. How far do we go back, Justin Davis?

I want to say maybe 2011, maybe 2010, 11 sometime in there. We came to your city and you invited my wife out to lunch and then I went and drove around, I think. So I think that's my first earliest memory. No, I'm just joking. I was invited. I just wanted you guys to have some girl time. But yeah, I think we go back probably 13 years. I just have to say this. There are just few people that I enjoy more than Justin and Trisha Davis. I love these folks. Let me give your stats real quick. Husband, dad, speaker, marriage

Thanks much. It's great to be here with you. I'm excited to chat with you. When you were

growing up, would you have ever thought I'll probably be a marriage coach one day? No, I didn't think of that until a few years ago, actually. I've been a pastor for

the better part of 20 years, over 20 years. Sometimes God uses our deepest failings as the

launching pad of our greatest calling. And so it's kind of something that

Trish and I have stepped into in this season and are loving being able to help couples in the way that we are.

Yeah, you guys really do. Okay, but did you also think I'm like, oh, yes, I love my wife. I love my family. I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about when you were little Justin playing in the dirt, were you thinking, oh, this is what my life is going to look like? Or were you like, I want to be a policeman. What did you want to do?

So up until my sophomore year of college, I wanted to be a teacher and a basketball coach. Like that was what I wanted to do. I had no aspirations about being in ministry. I grew up in a church that was pretty influential in my town, but it was very political, very, my favorite youth pastor kind of got ran out for making too many changes. And so it was very traditional,

not a great environment for life transformation. It was more behavior modification was kind of the name

of the game. And so I didn't really want anything to do with ministry. And I wanted to play basketball.

And the only school that recruited me to play basketball was a Christian Bible college. And so I just thought, I'm going to go there. I'm going to spend a year there. And then I'm going to get out of this place and go someplace and actually play real basketball. And my freshman year, I was asked by a family friend if I would come, he would pay me $100 a weekend to come and teach Sunday school and lead a

youth group, start a youth group. And so I went my very first Sunday, I did a message. It was probably

about 50 to 75 minutes long and it spanned Genesis to Revelation. And I basically just said at the

end, if you don't want to go to hell, raise your hand. And this kid named Kyle raised his hand. And I'm like, oh my gosh, I don't know what to do now. And so we walked

him through, like, actually the gospel, not what I said, and baptized them. And from that moment

on, I was like, I could be a teacher or I could teach something that has eternal significance. And so

my focus then began to shift and change and really felt God call me into ministry at that point.
