Welcome to our daily Rosary meditation.

Let's begin in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Amen.

Let's call to mind all those we've promised to pray for.

We've been meditating on the power of the will

and freedom and responsibility,

but there are things that can hinder our freedom.

St Thomas Aquinas says that we act voluntarily

when we are knowingly self-moved.

What that means is that for our wills to be free two things are

required. First of all, we have to know what we're doing.

If we don't know what we're doing, then we're not freely choosing to do it,

any more than a sleep walker is freely choosing to sleep walk.

And secondly, we must be moving ourselves.

That means we can't be compelled from without by physical force, but it also means we can't be

compelled from within, by a psychological compulsion.

What do we mean by that?

Meaning, when you can't say no to something bad for you.

See, sin leads to vice which leads to slavery.

Sin is doing evil.

Vice is wanting to do evil.
