This week on Limited Resources Marshall and Luis look back at Streets of New Capenna and reflect on it for the sunset show! SNC had some very high highs and some pretty low lows, and the guys dissect all of it, pick the best cards, and even give the set a grade at the end. Enjoy!

0:00.0 | What is up, everybody? Welcome to another episode of limited resources. This episode, number 659. My name is Marshall. I'm when you're limited resources and joining me online all the way from Denver, Colorado. It's Luis. |
0:26.0 | Scott Vargas, Luis is it 32 degrees in Denver? It's, it is. It's been, uh, it's been hot enough. I've been walking the dog early in the morning because it literally gets too hot to walk the dog. Like it's not safe for her pause. So yeah, it's been, it's been roasted in here. |
0:42.0 | Have you ever seen those little feet, uh, little shoes? And we put those in the dog once, uh, Julie hated them. Yeah, most dogs do. They look kind of silly and they walk, they walk different with those on, but, uh, I've seen those around too. |
0:56.0 | All right. So Luis, for the show this week, we're going to say bye bye to streets of new components. I'm for the sunset show for SNC. So we're going to bid this format ado as we go through all of our categories and look back on what was a very controversial set kind of from end to end and see what we think now that we've had a little bit of distance from it as well. |
1:17.9 | First off, though, let's talk about our sponsors channel fireball.com. That's place to go for all things magic related. As we mentioned last week on the show, they have, uh, what is it merged been purchased by combined with. I don't really know how to, what are the business terms we use here? |
1:33.6 | Uh, in this particular case, TCG player did purchase channel fireball. Okay. So they purchased channel fireball. So big changes, of course, over there and, uh, some, some cool exciting stuff. I'm sure coming down the horizon. For now though, you also go to channel fireball. |
1:46.5 | Buy all the cards that you need and you can find all the stuff that was there before still over on CFB. So if you need singles or sealed product or some supplies or merch or anything like that, you can |
1:58.8 | either over channel fireball.com. And if you do end up picking up picking up anything, if you use the affiliate code LR at checkout, it does help us out. And we do appreciate you doing so. |
2:08.1 | The shows also brought to you by FTXS place to manage any and all digital assets that you may have FTX dot us here in the United States and dot dot com outside of the United States will give you access to all of your digital wears, whatever it is that you happen to have, you can buy sell trade, etc. |
2:30.0 | On FTX, it's the world's best platform for managing digital assets and going for this could be a very important thing. I will remind you though that any time that you do anything like this, you should always consult an investment professional because there is risk involved with these type of things and you need to understand that before you jump in. But when you're ready, when you feel good and ready, head on over to FTX dot us here in the United States and FTX dot com outside. The shows also brought to you by you via the Patreon. It's Patreon dot com. |
3:00.0 | Slash limited resources. We got a Patreon question of the week here. Really funny question actually from Pete who says, dear LR, my friend and I would like to know your thoughts about the two main phases. Do you have a favorite would the game be better if there was only one main phase, which one's your favorite? |
3:21.0 | I've never been asked which of the two main phases is my favorite. Do you have a favorite main phase, Louise? |
3:28.0 | I guess it would be second main phase because it is that's where a lot of the shenanigans happened. It is, but in my second any time you have to announce. |
3:39.0 | Second, the word second main phase, something's up. For me, it was with managing. So this is an old card from legends, blue, blue, counter target spell. |
3:48.0 | The beginning of your next main phase add X colorless mana to your mana pool where X to the cost of the counter spell. So the old pro tech when you're playing with managing and you want to cast a spell on your turn, you go to your second main phase, you cast your spell, if they counter, you managing their counter, you don't get the man until next turn, because at this point, you're already tapped out, you can't use the mana. |
4:07.0 | So any time someone says, I go to my second main phase, all right, I'm going to cast, you know, this the sorcery there, it's putting managing alarm bells in the opponent's head. |
4:15.0 | Yeah, that's right. And there's always all types of nonsense there. What about Pete's question, is there anything, is it would magic be better if there was just say the first main phase? |
4:27.0 | No, I don't think so. I think that there's, look, I'm pretty much against unnecessary complexity, right? That's one of the things. I mean, if you were to talk phases, I would actually remove the upkeep. |
4:41.0 | I think the upkeep is, is, is a lot worse of an offender. You even look at how saga's work, they just trigger at the beginning of your main phase. In fact, the whole, you know, upkeep draw step sort of stuff, like just get rid of all that. |
4:54.0 | Nothing good happens there. But magic's obviously kind of priced in. They have a lot of cards that say upkeep on them. And so it's kind of hard to, to revert that. But main phase is actually having the too many phases is, I think, pretty important for good strategic depth where you can, you know, attack see how they attack, |
5:10.0 | goes decide which creature to cast or what have you or have a play sweeper post combat or whatever it is. There's a lot of cool stuff that happens. So I like having to main phases. |
5:19.0 | Yeah, I do too. I think the strategic part is the really important thing. |
