What is up, everybody? Welcome to another episode of limited resources. This episode, number 582. My name is Marshall. I'm one of your limited resources and joining me on the line all the way from

0:25.2

Caldheim, Colorado. It's Luis God Vargas. What's up Luis? It's actually like 65 degrees out. Is it really it's warmer there of course that it is here? Yeah, I'm going to take the dog out after after we record the show here, but I mean, I've been also living in Caldheim all week. So it does play. I have to I have to and that's of course what we're going to be talking about on the show this week. It is the Caldheim first impression show in my God. Has it left an impression? We've got a lot to talk about on the show before.

0:55.1

Before we get into it, I'm going to mention our sponsor that's channel fireball.com. We know you've heard of them. They've got all types of stuff going on over at CFB. You can get CFB pro. You can of course get any types of magic stuff that you want. If you're into Pokemon, they have that flesh and blood. They've got that going over there. And kind of a cool new thing that they've started recently is called box breaks. And this is where you basically buy a portion of a booster box or some type of sealed product and then they open it live on stream. And you don't know what you're going to get.

1:24.3

But you end up getting an allotment of that based on what you've purchased. And then they send it to you. So it's kind of cool. It's like if you can't, you know, quite scrap together enough money to get a full box. You might want to get one of these.

1:36.3

And then that way you get some cards and you get the sweat. You get the fun of watching it be opened live on stream. And then you get to see what you got.

1:44.3

So that's pretty cool. You can head over to channel fireball.com slash box breaks. If you want to check that out, there's all types of products there ranging from old stuff.

1:53.3

You know, I think little, little more on the pricey side to new sets. I know that today they're doing a bunch of call time box breaks. So there you go. You cannot, you can head over to channel fireball.com against slash box breaks for that.

2:05.3

I'll put a link in the show notes if you're interested. Also the shows brought to you by you via the Patreon. This show is primarily listener supported. That is what the Patreon's for. So if you like the show, if you like what we do here.

2:18.3

That is the best way to get back to us directly. It's patreon.com slash limited resources. If you sign up, you get a card. Thank you card in the mail at the minimum.

2:28.3

And there's some other cool benefits that you can get as you go up the line as well. So patreon.com slash limited resources for that.

2:37.3

So Luis, oftentimes we kick the first impression show off with some booster, booster, some crack packs so that we can kind of use those as a springboard to talk about.

2:48.3

We will be doing a crack pack, but we're going to do a little later on the show because we got polenty to talk about. Let's kick things off with overall stuff for the format. Give us the broad strokes right off the bat.

3:01.3

I mean, the first thing that jumps out at you, we noticed this right away basically is there's a lot of text on these cards and not just in terms of well, length of text boxes, which they are long.

3:14.3

It's also there's a lot of cards that work similar to but not quite the same as other cards. For example, the cycle of uncommon lands right that sack for an effect.

3:24.3

Well, some you can play at instant speed, some are only sorcery speed, some put creatures into play tapped instead. That's like kind of so you don't get ambushed. So the through line is that it's hard to ambush people with them like, you know, let you are a mirror like a or car fell port of car fell.

3:39.3

They're not going to put a surprise block or in, but ones at instant ones of sorcery. So you have to read every card really, really carefully.

3:46.3

Figure out what they do and that might sound kind of obvious like, oh, you have to read your cards. Well, it's the big deal. Well, there is a there's a amount of fatigue for that. I remember you're going to have plenty to talk about here.

3:58.3

I'm sure I remember you tweeting out like call him kind of feels like homework. And that's not a positive thing. You know, there this does feel like they went overboard with the text. There's just too much different text and too many different things that are going on here.

4:13.3

Yeah.

4:16.3

I'm okay with increased complexity. It feels like they went overboard both in terms of individual one off effects and card text boxes and also maybe with like their themes overall.

4:27.3

Okay. Yeah. And that's kind of where I'm at too. And that that's definitely that sums up my broad strokes view of the format so far, which is it's too much.

4:39.3

I believe that they've overstepped with this one. I know that a set that gets mentioned a lot of a lot of times in this vein. I think is an apt comparison is time spiral, which you know was one of the least.
