episode number 517. My name is Marshall. I'm one of your limited resources and joining me on the bed in the

hotel room here in Richmond, Virginia at Mythic Championship 6. It's Louis Scott Vargas.

Louise, dare I ask how you're doing.

Yeah, I just went 10-6 at the Mythic Championship,

which is not a bad finish all told.

I started 4-4 and went 6 and 2 on day 2, but I'm in a I'm in

competition to make top 4 top 4 of non-MPL players challengers for a world slot and an

mPL slot which is huge that's like the two biggest current prizes and magic and

based on my finish it's not looking particularly likely.

So I'm pretty bummed.

Yeah, that's a super rough one.

It's a weird confluence of events

that leads to this level of stakes happening, right?

Like normally throughout your career things are much flatter, but given the changes that have

happened and the fact that Worlds has a million dollar price pool total etc.

It created this very strange situation where the incentives got kind of crazy high.

Yeah, normally it would be like if we looked at the last, you know, five years or whatever, if you do really well, you make it to worlds. If you miss that, your platinum, and if you miss platinum, your gold. So it's kind of like a graduated scale with fairly big jumps in between.

Here it's like worlds quadrupled in prize pools and so it's worth way more and

MPL is worth five times as much as platinum and if I miss them it's like a huge and m p. p. p.m.

and if I miss them it's like a huge cliff and I don't basically get anything.
