Ten minutes later, the better won $10,000.

By wagering, Clazé's pitch would be a ball slower than 98 miles per hour.

That pitch was off speed and in the dirt.

Prosecutors say Claude recruited Ortiz to the scheme this year.

Before June start against the Mariners, Ortiz

allegedly agreed to throw a ball for his first pitch in the second inning. First pitch

missing low ball one. Two weeks later, Ortiz allegedly agreed to throw a ball in the third

inning of a game against the Cardinals. It's just a little bit outside. Prosecutors say Ortiz and

Claise took a cut of the winning bets.

How about that?

First of all, the fact that you can in a game in May between two non-likely playoff teams bet on one pitch that it'll be less than 98 miles an hour.

Who's making these bets?

I wouldn't think there'd be any money in it because there wouldn't anybody to say,

anybody would say, yeah, maybe, I don't know.

Who cares?
