happiness do not sleep in the same bed.

Therefore it is no surprise to discover that David in verses 3 and 4 is an unhappy man. Indeed, we ought not to deceive ourselves about the consequences

of deceiving ourselves. And he gives us a very clear indication

that there is an obvious link between remorse and a tortured conscience

and the physical impact that comes by way of that remorse and that tortured conscience.
