President Trump is known for challenging norms, but for years, he's also talked about formally ending what was long considered an ironclad law.

Hundreds of thousands of people are pouring into our country under birthright citizenship,

and it wasn't meant for that reason. Birthright citizenship, the concept that if you're born on U.S. soil, you are a U.S. citizen, is enshrined in the Constitution. The Trump administration,

though, has a different interpretation of that language, and Trump issued an executive order ending the

government's policy of recognizing it. This attracted, of course, a ton of lawsuits and was

blocked by multiple federal judges. Because the president's order attempts to circumscribe this

process, it is clearly unconstitutional. The preliminary injunction is granted on a nationwide basis.

To which the Trump administration said, hey, why should one judge, with no appeals court weighing in,

be able to block a 50 state or even an international policy?
