Jesus did not command us to make converts. He commanded us to make disciples. The word disciple means learner. I remember

Winky Pratton used to tell us years ago, he says, when you stop learning, you stop being a disciple.

The whole issue of discipleship is that we learn by following. We're actually following in the footsteps of another.

It's not mimicking a lifestyle. It's not a code of ethics. It's actually a relational journey of trust.

This relational journey of trust is maybe best illustrated by Jesus' own crucifixion. He gave himself to die.

His life wasn't taken from him. He gave himself to die. It's my personal conviction that he didn't

raise himself from the dead. The Holy Spirit of God raised him from the dead.

So if you think about this for a moment, when Jesus gave himself to become sin, it's the most

bizarre thing in heaven will understand it clearer. But the problem in all of creation was sin.
