I know normally the first few minutes of these podcast episodes, your brain cells are typically dying and you're feeling like your intellect is being regressed by my interesting conversation

over the last six months. But today is going to be a little different. Today we have a very

special guest, Dr. Corey Grayson, who has a PhD in biomedical engineering from Cornell University.

No big deal.

Just a PhD in STEM.

And I can't even tell you.

I met Dr. Grayson on Instagram.

We both contributed and took part in a hashtag Share the Mic Now campaign

to amplify black women voices on the

social media platforms, especially highlighting women in science and medicine and health care.

And when I saw Dr. Grayson's Instagram profile, I was like, first of all, like, this is so badass.

And this is going to sound terrible. You are the first black woman I have ever known in STEM. And that actually

is kind of, it's actually kind of heartbreaking, but it's also really, really intriguing at the same

time. And that's really an emphasis of how much that

conversation needed to be had at the time. And I'm glad I came across your profile. Black
