Hey everybody, welcome back to another episode of Dying Laughing.

Today's episode is a little different.

It's not about a person.

It's about my dog, Carlin, Carlin Joseph Paluso, if we're being exact.

My best friend, my road trip buddy, my emotional support animal, before I even knew that was a thing.

And he's already passed away. I had to put him down last week. I thought I'd be ready for

something like this, but now I'm realizing that every loss is just another chance to let go of

an older one. It's kind of like grief's way of reminding you that

your heart still works. And for me, October's always been a season of loss. It's when the most

important men in my life seem to leave. Foszie Bear and my dad, and this year it was Carlin's

turn. He's been with me through everything, through both of my parents dying, through breakups,

through every bad audition, every empty fridge moment.

He's the dog that made other people want to get a dog.

So today I'm celebrating him.

I'm talking about what it's like to prepare for a loss of a pet before it really hits,

the lessons he's taught me, and the ridiculous,

beautiful love that only a dog can give. Because he honestly has taught me more about being

alive than most human beings ever have. Things like trusting your gut and how exercise solves

90% of your problems and how there's no such thing as taking life too seriously when you're wearing a hot dog costume and meaning it.

This one's for anyone who's ever loved an animal so deeply you swore you could understand each other without a word.
