I've had a recent interaction with an old friend of mine and I would love to hear how you would have handled it. Ooh, intriguing.

I feel as though my reaction was a bit Michael and perhaps I should have reacted a bit more like

you, Hillary. My friend had travelled two hours to visit me for the day to have a bit of lunch

and do some Christmas shopping. Oh, sorry, sorry, we got to this so late. We got there in the end.

When we were finished having our lunch, she excused herself to go to the washroom. Washroom?

When we were finished having our lunch, she excused herself to go to the washroom and the waitress came to give us the bill. I paid for her meal as well because she had paid for petrol to come and visit me. When my friend came back to the table and realised I had paid for the entire lunch,

she was furious, in capital letters, with me. It wasn't the typical exchange of, oh, you shouldn't

have. She was extremely angry with me and said it was downright rude of me to have paid behind her

back. My response to her, well, I suppose I'm just rude then and you'll have to deal with that.

To which she replied with a scoff. I'd like to know how you would have handled this situation
