As we continue in our series, "Soundtracks" Scott takes us through Psalm 90. He reminds us our time on this is earth is limited and God wants us to make the most of the time He gives us. With opportunities and distractions pulling us in many different directions, we need God’s wisdom to help us use our time well.

Let's go. How are we doing this morning? Hey, my name is Scott. It is so good to be here with you.

I have been in ministry for a while now, you know, 18, 21 years. I don't even know. I can't count that high.

A long time and lived a decent amount of life. And one thing I have learned is that there tend to be a few different ways that we like to celebrate our birthdays. Anyone's birthday today? Okay, well, it's mine. So I have, no, just kidding, it's not my birthday today. Three different ways we celebrate birthdays. There are some of us, when it's your birthday, it is absolutely no big deal. In fact, you probably resent it. Like, oh, another year, I'm older, and you don't like it, you ignore it, you don't

tell anyone.

There are some people, when it's your birthday, it's a great day. Hey, it's my birthday today, you get presents, you get cake, you get encouraged. It's really fun to be celebrated. Then there are some of us, when it's your birthday, it's like stop everything. It is the birthday week, the birthday month, the birthday year, bring the circus to town.

It's time to celebrate me. Typically, I tend to be a little bit of the first, probably more of the second, but this year was a big deal. This year, I turned 50. Yes, it's hard to believe I'm still going. It's still walking. It's not that old.

Okay, it's not that old.

In fact, I'd say the last year of life has been my favorite year so far.

But there are definitely some things that come with 50.

And when I got to 50, I knew I wanted to go a little bit bigger than usual.

And so my wife did just an unbelievable job of celebrating me.

Did a crawfish boil.

All my friends came in town.

Friends from here, friends from Dallas, and just a great celebration.

And it made me really, really thankful for my life.

Because I got to 50, I got a little bit reflective.

And what I've really come to know at 50 is that a few things happen.

And so one is I get the privilege of using these a lot more often.

And so I need them to read my notes, but I can't see you.

And so I'm going to take them off and hopefully be able to read my notes at the same time.

But vision's a little bit worse.
