You know, in ancient Rome, if you're going to store grain, you got to worry about roaches and bugs and rats and other things. And I had no idea this happened, but they actually fumigated their grain storage areas. So they would burn uh sulfur which was sometimes mixed with

bitumen which is what they used for roofing tar so if you're you know that stinky odor when people

are doing roofing yeah and you know it was basically that stuff and so they would close up all the

doors and all the windows and light this stuff on fire and it would fumigate it. And because the gas was heavy, it would sink down into the grain. It would kill any pest. It would also ruin the eggs of any bugs and stuff. And that's how they were able to preserve their eggs. I mean, the Romans were pretty ingenious with what they had built over the second.
