0:00.0	If you have a Bible, 1 John chapter 3 is where we're going to be. We've called this series
0:04.2	Touchgrass, and that's because supposedly to go outside barefoot, whether you're jet lagged
0:10.9	or tired or just starting your day to have your feet on the ground, supposedly earthing,
0:16.7	they say, helps you get grounded, is good for you. It makes a lot of sense to me. But the book of
0:21.7	first John, spiritually speaking, does that for us in that it grounds us in the truth. It helps us
0:28.5	discern between what's real, what's not, which I don't know about you, but more and more,
0:33.6	that's harder to figure out. What was actually on my feed that really happened versus what is
0:39.0	computer generated? What's artificial? Did this really happen? Did it not? And first John is helping us to know
0:47.2	when it comes to salvation. Not everyone who seems to be saved is actually saved and Jesus talked a lot about that
0:56.5	about how there's going to be assorting at the end of the day between wheat and weeds between
1:02.0	goats and sheep and and not everyone who appears to be a child of God actually is so we're looking
1:08.6	at 1st John to give us as Christians an assurance of our own
1:13.1	salvation, but also as a way to know ahead of time what's genuine and what's artificial. And we last
1:21.0	week, if you weren't here, left with this idea of paternity, of spiritual paternity. And John, he is just blunt. He's not messing
1:31.4	around. He's like, listen, you're either a child of God or you're a child of the devil. And you're
1:36.4	like, well, I don't like those categories. And he's like, I don't care. Here's what's real.
1:39.7	Here's what's true. Like it or not, believe it or not, according to God's word, there's no such thing as
1:48.5	Switzerland. There's no, can I pick neither? There's no, can I be neutral? There's no, I don't have to
1:55.5	have an allegiance, right? Now, he says, by default, you're a child of the wicked one.
2:01.8	This is language from the scripture.
2:03.3	Now, you can choose to believe something else, but let's not, in the name of scripture,
2:08.9	change what the Bible actually presents.
