So with all this midterm news going around, it's got me really reminiscing about my experience with my own midterm election.

And that was in fifth grade when I decided to run as the incumbent for fifth grade student council.

Incumbent. In fourth grade, I ran uncontested because why not and just got the position. Obviously didn't do shit because you're an elementary schooler on student. You have no power. Yeah. It's a fake position. But anyway, I ran again in fifth grade, feeling gassed up, right? Right. And the people, the homies I was running against, right? Everybody, everybody's talking about like lunch.

Like, oh my God, we're going to fix school lunches, bro, you're in fifth grade. But I digress. That's basically the platform I ran on was, bro, you're in fifth grade. There's nothing we're going to do for school lunches. Like, let's focus on something practical. You were calling them out for treating the voters as if they're stupid. Exactly. Right.

I was the realist candidate in fifth grade.

And I got fucking packed up.

And I got fucking packed up. I don't know if I got a single vote. I bet it was the big money influx that they got to lose their campaign. It was the, I'm going to make school lunches better. French toast every day. You know what I'm saying? Damn. How many people ran against you? Like two. and they both ran on the same platform.

That's messed up. It's because in politics today, honesty is not rewarded. Oh, no, it taught me a very valuable lesson that I would take with me to right now while I have a very small time political

what they want to hear and then do absolutely nothing when you get into office because you don't actually have the power to do it. Exactly. Because basically, like, it's like you don't have any power anyway. So what are you going to do? See, like, Gage is the real victim here. I am. You ran uncontested. No shame in that. No shame. Many, many house districts throughout the whole nation are not competitive. Come on. People just win by default a lot of the time. And then they got the big money influx and started lying. They got the Super PAC money. My incumbent advantage didn't matter because I refused to lie. Exactly. That's why you all can trust me. You hadn't that name recognition. Everyone knew who you were. Oh, true. I was like Gage Gage Kousinopoulos, the big time. Exactly. Fourth grade student council guy. He really fought for us. So many things changed. You were basically, oh, God, what was the New York mayor before Eric Adams? Fuck. Bill de Blasio. That's who you were. Build de Blasio. And they just treated you poorly. I know. It's ridiculous, brother. It's like once you become, once you become student body president or whatever you were of the student body, people just start hating you. Thank God I had that experience in fifth grade. And I never once again ran for like any other like school student organization.

You begin disillusioned.
