despite all of the plain inequalities that exist,

which situation is better.

And I just think that the progress that has been made

towards those ideals is undeniable.

But that doesn't mean that you then say,

well, but everything is great.

And that's not worried about existing injustices.

What you do as a liberal is you say,

yes, we're still not fully living up to those ideals.

And so we need to go ahead and correct them.

But our society is correctable.

And we can use policy and politics to make changes

to make things better.
