It's troubling that we had an aircraft hit a fire truck.

That's Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy during a briefing today about the fatal collision between an Air Canada plane

and a Port Authority fire truck at LaGuardia Airport Sunday night.

A law enforcement official says the pilot and co-pilot were killed and dozens were injured.

A preliminary analysis indicates that the jet collided with the fire truck on the runway at 104

miles per hour. Air traffic control had cleared both to be on the runway.

One airport runway reopened earlier today,

but the Federal Aviation Administration says a second runway will stay closed until 7 a.m. Friday.

A CNN aviation analyst says it'll take at least another week or more

for investigators to soar through the wreckage.

President Donald Trump was presented a potential off-ramp to the Department of Homeland Security shutdown.
