Anytime we're creating from a space of proving others wrong, you'll always be left

with some sense of frustration. I felt emotionally insecure. Let me make money. Now I have more

opportunities to cause pain on myself. For Lewis Howes, a career-ending injury didn't just take away

football. It took away his identity and his future. Lewis didn't just recover. He reinvented himself, finding success through a transformed mindset, key relationships, and strategic environments.

I lived with darkness inside of me most of my childhood. I was five years old as being sexual abused by a man that I didn't know. If anyone

knew this about me, why would anyone love or accept me? And so I just buried it. Does it still pop up?

I want to go to your senior year of college. Now, people who followed you, have heard you share

this story, but for those who don't know,

your father was in a severe car accident and had some real fundamental changes on him,

from physical to the mental, I don't know if it affected his personality.

And you at that point may be thinking about going into his business, he was in the insurance

business, and this severe accident changes everything.

And no backup plans early on in life.

I want you to take us to that because I think it would be really interesting to hear

as you look back all these years later, how did that shape you? What do we need to know about what happened? And then I'd

love for you to share how it shaped you. Well, it's 20 years ago. I was a senior in college. And my dad

went away on a trip during my senior year of playing football. He was going to be gone for a week and

miss a game.
