I'm avoiding getting started because it's hard to be funny now.

You know, you know why, because it's hard to be funny when everything's going so great.

I mean, it's just hard to be funny when everybody's so happy.

I travel everywhere.

You know, everywhere I go, I know it seems odd, but they are smiling here to be here.

It's like everybody's on ecstasy.

It is like wandering through a great big Christian camp.

And as a Jew, let me tell you how fucking exhausting that is.

Lewis has a new stand-up special out today called Thanks for Risking Your Life.

He taped it at a casino in Michigan

on Friday, March 13th, after the entire country had already started to shut down due to the

coronavirus pandemic. In it, he brilliantly captures that moment where we all knew something big was

happening, but had no idea how bad it would get. And no one is better at

capturing that precarious mood than the man behind back in black. Lewis and I talked about

everything from his reaction to the first presidential debate, to the time he dodged a series of

angry phone calls from Donald Trump to the period of time when he nearly lost his lucrative daily show gig.

He also shared stories about going on his first U.S.O. tour

with Robin Williams, Kid Rock, and Lance Armstrong,
