series on Lewis and Clark and the Corps of Discovery. Last time we left the Corps

in early April of 1805.

The expedition had spent the winter at Fort Mandan, located near modern day Bismarck, North Dakota.

The Corps had traveled up the Missouri River, meeting with various native tribes along the way, including the powerful Sioux.

They had reached the Mandan villages in the fall, the home of the Mandan Nation.
