Those matching sections on either side of the day of atonement, you have 11 through 15 dealing with

ritual and ceremonial uncleanness and cleanness. And then now on this side of the day of

atonements, you have regulations regarding morality and holiness. And I think we see in that the correspondence

between the two that those ritual regulations about uncleanness

and cleanness are meant to reflect that the people are supposed to be holy in their character

as God himself is holy.

the Day of Atonement. And to be honest, guys, it was a glorious time. I had a wonderful,

wonderful time discussing it with you. Sam, remind us real fast, why is that the center of the Pentateau?

It's the center of the Pentateuch. Theologically, because it's resolving the problem that was introduced in Genesis 3, that man has been

cast out and away from God's presence. He's not been able to get past that cherubim that has been

guarding access to the presence of God. The Day of Atonement allows at least one man, the high priest

of Israel, once a year, to move past those cherubim that have been engraven into the curtains of the Holy of Holies and go into the

Holy of Holies and offer sacrifice for himself and for the sins of the people. So it's finally resolving

the problem of Israel's lack of access to God himself. And then literarily, it's the center of the
