For sixth, then he shall skin the wholeborn offering and cut it into its pieces.

The sons of Aaron, the priest, shall put fire on the altar and lay the wood on the fire.

Then the priest, Aaron's sons shall lay the parts, the head and the fat, upon the wood and fire on the altar.

But he shall wash its entrails and its legs with water.

The priest shall then put all of it on the altar as a burnt offering, a sacrifice for a sweet aroma to the Lord.

So this is a whole-burn offering. They're burning up the whole thing.

They're not eating pieces. The whole thing is being offered to God. And that language of a sweet aroma before the Lord is important,

because sacrifices, as we're going to see, don't always involve killing something. This is

another problem with the sacrifice equals killing idea.

We're going to see, even in sin offerings, they're going to offer like wheat cakes.

You can't kill a wheat cake. It doesn't have blood.

Right. But I mean, I can kill a box of cupcakes, but that's metaphorical.

So, right? So there's there's not always killing, right? But it's always

food. You don't see them carving something out of wood and burning it. Right. It's always food.

Because sacrifice takes place within this realm of hospitality and the most common form of

hospitality is sharing a meal.

And when you're the the hospitality part of sharing a meal, right, the part that's

hospitality is when I bring the food out and share it with you, right?

Me eating my own food with you is not the hospitality part, right?
