O Lord please hear my prayer

In the morning when I rise

Is your servant-bye Is yourself that come for glory?

O dear Lord, please dear my friend.

As the late preacher, an author John Stott once said,

prayer is the very way God himself has chosen for us to express our conscious need of him

and our humble dependence on him. Today, we'll meet a man whose simple prayers of need, dependence,

and gratitude landed him at a place he'd never seen before and didn't recognize when he did see it

for the first time. The Supreme Court.

Is this Supreme Court? Yes. I don't know what it is. I'm I supposed to. Football fields,

he knows, green grass and clear markings, not a jumble of white marble federal buildings.

This is Joe Kennedy, high school football coach.

His post-game prayers are the subject of an oral argument at the highest court in the land,

and he's in town with one of his lawyers, preparing.

We met Kennedy and his lawyer last April when he was there.

First Liberty Institute is representing him pro bono.

Kennedy is dressed in jeans, a zip-up hoodie, and a blue jacket that says Bremerton football.

He's in his early 50s, keeps his hair short on top and buzzed around the ears.

He greets me with a big bear hug and offers to carry my bag. At first, I wonder if this was an act.

I don't think so. Others have described him as a regular old Joe, and he does seem like a genuine guy

whose life took an unexpected turn. What does it feel like to be a party to a Supreme Court case?

I mean, you're going to go down in law books and stuff.
