God wants to direct your daily life, your decisions, your coming and going.

And he does this through the work of the person who is called the Holy Spirit in the Bible.

Right now, take a moment, open your hands and repeat this after me. Say, Jesus, I want whatever you have for me.

But say it one more time together with your hands open, Jesus, I want whatever you have for me.

Now place your hands down, close your eyes, and picture this along with me. Picture the Roman Empire 2,000 years ago. I'm sure you've seen some movies that

picture this. There's dusty roads, but there are roads.

This is the first time in human history that there were roads connecting countries and cultures and people.

There was also a common language.

And it was in this environment that the Apostle Paul was called to preach.

But where?

With so many options in front of him, how would he know where to go?

When he got to an intersection in a Roman road, how would he know to go right or to go left?

In Acts 16, verse 6, we hear the story of Paul and his companions

who were in this dilemma. And listen to what it says about them. They wanted to go east to Asia,

but it says that the Holy Spirit prevented Paul from preaching in Asia at that time. So from there, he thought,

I'll go north. But it says in verse 7, it says, but again, the Spirit of Jesus did not allow him to go there.

So Paul goes, well, if I can't go east, I can't go north, he went to sleep. And in verse

nine, the story tells us that that night, Paul had a vision. While he was sleeping, God showed him

a man from Macedonia pleading with him, and the man said, come to Macedonia and help us there.

This is a story of the Holy Spirit leading and giving direction in somebody's life.
