Now Jesus in a sense tells us that we should not swear.

I say, and do you swear not at all?

Neither by heaven for it is God's throne nor by the earth for it is God's footstool.

But when you say yes, just let it be yes.

When you say no, let it be no.

Just be a person of your word.

Don't have to be a person that takes an oath,

you know, to prove how I'm telling the truth, you know,

by my mother's name, you know, or by heaven or whatever that a person may take an oath by.

Lord says you shouldn't have to do that to affirm the truth.
