Well, howdy there internet people, let's bow again. So today we are going to talk about Voyager 1 because

it's back.

It's talking again.

Okay, so for those who don't know, back in November of 2023, Voyager one for lack of a better term it lost its voice. It lost its ability

to communicate with Earth.

It was just sending back a bunch of, well, garbled data.

Now, the Voyager. Now the

Voyager team didn't want to give up on the mission, the newest mission.

So they went to work trying to figure out what the problem was. And eventually

they figured out it had something to do with the flight data subsystem was corrupted. They did a little bit of clever rearranging of code. They had to

dump some code from I think from the Jupiter Mission or something like that that wasn't

going to be used anymore and on April 20th they had two of the instrument

systems back up and running and could get that data.

They now have all four.

They now have all four back up and running.

The instrumentation, it studies plasma waves, magnetic fields and particles.

Now the interesting thing to remember about this

is that Voyager 1 was amazing when I was a kid. It was amazing because it was still going. It completed its

initial mission in 1980 and it is still up there working. This thing is almost half a

century old. Now the current plan is for this thing to continue to work, continue to function, and continue to send data from outside the heliosphere until 2036.

And then being able to fix this and do all of the NASA magic that they pulled off from Earth,

well that makes that date a little bit more likely.
