Well, howdy there internet people, let's bow again. So today we are going to talk

about the debt ceiling, the Senate, and two plans coming out of the Senate and a

little bit of bipartisan support. So we're going to go through

those and talk about how likely they are to get anywhere and what it all means.

Okay, so the first plan is coming from the senator from Hawaii.

Pretty progressive.

Can't remember his name right now.

Brian Schatz, maybe.

The general idea, repeal the debt ceiling, just get rid of it.

It is important to remember that the debt ceiling is not real it's fake it doesn't actually exist

when people in Congress are doing their little brinksmanship games like are going on right now, they often tell the

press or tell their constituents that the debt ceiling is like the U.S.'s credit card limit. That's not true. That's not what it is. It's more like

Visa gives you a credit limit of $100,000 and you and your partner decide, well, we're only going to spend a thousand dollars this

month. It's the thousand dollar number not the hundred thousand dollar number. Visa

would not stop you from spending $1,120. The debt ceiling isn't real.

So the idea there is to just get rid of it, make it go away, and that would force, in theory,

force Congress to deal with the budget in a more responsible manner.

That's the idea.

And it would eliminate the bricksmanship.

Me personally, I think that's the right move.

The problem is it seems really unlikely that that is

going to get through the House. Republicans would just be giving up way too much
