Well, howdy there, internet people, it's Bell again. So today, we're going to talk about

Trump cutting education funding. The Trump administration is withholding an estimated $6.2 billion

in congressionally appropriated funding for K through 12 education.

Trump has the money impounded and is refusing to release it as Congress directed.

The amount being withheld is significant.

Every single state is looking at more than 10% of federal funding for education being

withheld. A lot of states, I'd say more than a

dozen, are having more than 15% of their funding withheld. Specifically, what kinds of funds are being

withheld? There's money for migrant education and for English language acquisition.

The people who will support Trump cutting these funds because they like the idea of punishing

the children of migrants will, of course, soon be on social media complaining about people

not speaking English.

There's money for the student support an academic enrichment

program. That's a wide-ranging enrichment program. There's money for supporting effective instruction.

This is cash to teach the teacher or to encourage teachers to work in underserved areas.

There's also money being held up that's for 21st century community learning centers.

This is probably the most immediate problem.

This money pays for educational services during non-school hours, including summer programs.

Many working class parents utilize these services during the summer so they can work.

The Boys and Girls Club's president and CEO Jim Clark put out a statement saying in part, quote,

just like any organization, boys and girls clubs depend on financial commitments to

operate, to recruit talent, deliver services, and meet the needs of families they serve daily.
