Well, howdy there, Internet people, it's Bell again.

So today, we're going to talk about Trump losing veterans.

On June 6th, veterans gathered in Washington, D.C.

Normally, if a report starts with that line, the next words are

to commemorate the anniversary of D-Day.

But that's not the case under the current timeline and administration.

Thousands of veterans traveled to D.C. and stood at the National Mall to make their voices heard

when it comes to the Republican Party slashing the VA.

It was described as one of the largest rallies of former service members

in decades. What brought veterans together this time was the planned elimination of 80,000 jobs

from the Department of Veterans Affairs, and the cancellation of contracts with community-level

veteran service groups all over the country.

On top of the event at the mall, there were reportedly more than 200 events held nationwide,

ranging from small gatherings to vigils at VA clinics. The cuts are already impacting care at the VA.

As an aside, ProPublica, which is one of those outlets we talk about, that does the good old-fashioned digging through the documents journalism, is asking vets to share their stories of how they've been impacted by Trump's cuts. Summing up why the events were happening,

the chief executive of Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America, said, quote,

We're a generation of service. We volunteered and stepped up to lead. Now, we are seeing the promises

made to us come under attack. Christopher Purdy, the founder and CEO of

the Chamberlain Network, said, quote, the same lawmakers who made those promises are backing budgets

that would gut the systems veterans rely on. It sends a message. Veterans are useful as symbols, but expendable

when it comes to actual policy. Trump's budget cuts medical spending for the VA by 20%. Those on the

Republican side of the aisle will point to an increase in spending on private health care for vets that
